Being an entrepreneur can be a lonely place…sometimes.

I am surrounded by all types of entrepreneurs, it is fantastic to see and feel. When I started my entrepreneurial journey at age 11 by selling CDs in the playground, I think I was the only person who had that trait. But being an entrepreneur can be lonely

To be honest I was very much a lone wolf with my thought path until I started surrounding myself with coaches and speakers. The majority of my friends don’t really understand what I do, or have no real interest. Which makes the world seem like a lonely place sometimes – I wonder how many of my long term friends read these blogs?

You meet people that are just starting out in business and at any age they are excited, nervous and ready to start on a new journey. I love speaking with entrepreneurs and many of my coaching clients are entrepreneurs. The drive they have is a reflection of my own, if someone knocks me down I will be back up before they know it. This is a trait of a true entrepreneur, having the ability to learn, grow and move forward.

But the truth of the entrepreneurial life is that it can be lonely at times, those times where you would love to just rant about your day or bounce ideas off your colleagues. You are usually the sole driving force behind your ideas until you bring in other people to assist you.

I think it’s a common misperception that it will be all networking, meetings and brainstorming.

But let me tell you this, when you’re working at 2am to make your goals become a reality then those nights can be awfully lonely.

Luckily the past few years with the help of social media you can usually find a couple of entrepreneurs online to natter away to, providing you have begun to build up your network.

Use this network to help you as the chances are you will survive if you create that like-minded support team around you. Whether that’s new friends or old, it’s key to have those people around you – so you stay sane!

It has taken me a while to actually create this network around me, but it feels great! I wish I had it when I was younger and pulling an all-nighter creating websites!

Being an entrepreneur can be the most rewarding life you can live. No matter what sort of entrepreneur you are, just remember why you’re doing what you’re doing and build up that network around you.
