Growth consultant

What a growth consultant does for a founder-led B2B company, and when consulting is the wrong shape.

A growth consultant helps a company decide what is limiting growth and what should happen next. The company keeps operational ownership. The consultant does not become the weekly manager of the function unless that is a separate agreement.

On this site, growth consultant, growth strategy consultant, and growth consultancy mean that same practice. The two formats are a fixed growth diagnostic and ongoing advisory. Both are described on the business growth consulting page.

When a consultant is the wrong hire

Consulting fails when nobody inside the company can hold the work after the meeting. Advice then sits beside the problem. That situation needs a fractional chief growth officer, not another recommendation.

Steven consults with founder-led B2B companies in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. City pages explain how that works remotely, including London and New York. He is not a general small-business coach, and he is not a fractional CFO.

Also defined: B2B pipeline, Business growth consultant, Chief growth officer, Fractional CFO

Start with the problem

Use the definition on a live problem.

Bring the situation. The first question is whether you need a consultant, a fractional chief growth officer, or a different hire entirely.
